Well, I for one, come to this site a few times a day, to check out what is happening on travel talk. Many times, I come in on the home page and also look at what else is being offered in the way of travel info before I get into travel talk. I have looked up hotels and restaurants in rants and raves, etc. I have also noticed that some of the G-rated and interesting threads are also disappearing. I come here for travel info and also for humerous threads, to see what you clever readers are writing.

I have both the US and the Europe forum boards bookmarked and always enter via one of those. I don't think I've seen a Fodor's home page in a couple of years.<BR>With all my visits per day here counting toward "hits" on a website to bolster their advertising charges, I see how I might be contributing to Fodor's well being, but oddly enough, I never come into contact with any of that advertising.

Well, I come in contact with the advertising on this site because I want to, I want to know what is available and what better place than here?

Aside from revenue from the ads on the Home Page, Fodors also gains from this forum simply as advertising or PR, although that's not as easy to quantify (but no PR is easy to quantify). This forum has been mentioned at least several times in very major publications that I know of, magazines, newspapers, etc (travel sections). If this forum did not exist, Fodors would lose that free advertising/PR, and lose the attention of anyone who comes to this site as a result of those articles.
