Pepper_von_snoot - assuming you put these up as genuine questions (though I doubt it), the answers are Yes, No and No. The indyref has nothing to do with who is the head of state. The Queen would remain so, just as with other independent countries such as Canada, Austrialia, NZ etc. HRH has wisely chosen to stay out of the debate.

Front page article in this morning's NY Times about how Scotland is inspiring others. Maybe it will also become a symbol for those seeking a divorce.
Pepper is just asking the questions that keeps the average person awake at night.

Don't worry the Scots on Fodors are aware that not all Americans are insular little people without a passport.......even if they do have bad hair.

There's lots of events, nouns and people in your post. None of them are related by common logic.

We are all waiting with bated breath for your informed garbage.

I beg to differ with you, I have no hair.
We visited Scotland in 2012 and in a week, I of course, became an expert on the country. What most impressed us about the Scots we encountered was that they were genuinely amiable and were proud of the historic and present attitudes and achievements regarding the sciences. A refreshing view considering the frightening number of Americans who believe in angels and creationism.
Although I keep abreast of the separatist movements in Spain, I am not well-versed in the historical reasons or all the political and economic implications and unintended consequences of the present situation. But because the Scots are proud of their analytical skills I am hopeful that they apply that the same to this decision.
It should not go unnoticed that the former colonies, territories, and penal colonies of England that were predominantly white at the time detachment have succeeded mightily while those who were of different color than that of the monarchs, PM's, and Parliament have not fared as well.

Might even give it a mild boost as the curious, and reporters looking for some sort of reaction story, flood in to see what the difference is.
Economic effects might take some time to work through, and who knows what might happen if the negotiations prove sticky. Most likely, at worst (for us), the exchange rate may move in the visitors' favour.

BILBOBURGLER - from your article:
"Kim Jong-un is feeling positive about a Yes vote in Scotland and is looking to trade with Scotland if it gains independence, Pyongyang representatives have reportedly said."
LOL - that must have thrown Salmond & Co. for a loop, eh?

My heart sank when I heard that all three leaders of the parties were going to rally a no vote; its more about two fingers up to Westminster (as it is now) than reflecting anything else. I just hope to God that they see the benefit of staying in the UK but with additional devolved power.

England had very few colonies though Great Britain and then the UK did.
I suspect the arrival of masses immigrants and a much reduced indigious population is the significant differences in the early economic advantages
