Honey, I knew where you were coming from having just played that role myself. Since it was also my job to arrange transportation I made it as easy as possible, saving "Trains and Taxis 101" for later.

Actually, my hotel in Rome threw in a free airport transfer. I've pre-paid for transfers before, though, and it was nice not having to worry about paying at the airport. You won't have to worry about currency, etc. I don't think it's a rip-off. Just ask about refunds, if you end up not actually taking your trip, or what happens if your flight is delayed significantly, etc.

We used a great called www.benvenutolimos.com and did not have any problems with payments. Just used a cc.
