We stayed at the Continental Palacete which was in a very nice neighborhood close to Las Ramblas but far away enough so that it was not noisy, etc. Near Passeig de Gracia.

They included a 24 hour buffet in the price of the room. Food was not gourmet but indeed WAS available 24 hours. Including drinks, wine (not good though), fruit, even chocolate. It was quite convenient and since I was traveling with two very hungry teenage boys, it fit the bill for us.

None of the hotels I stayed in Spain had breakfast included in the price of the room as a default. I have at times signed up for a package that included breakfast.

While I tried to eat most breakfasts outside my hotel, I found that breakfast cafes seemed to attract smokers. Thus, at times, I have eaten breakfast in my hotels, at additional cost, if they offered less smoky seatings than at nearby cafes.

Niikki - what is "cava"?

kybourbon Jul 4th, 2007 07:37 AM

Cava is Spain's sparkling white wine similar to French Champagne.

I think Hostal Palacios includes breakfast, but you could e-mail to make sure. www.hostalpalacios.com

Nikki - We had a problem with H10 hotels and DCC. Did you?

I don't think we encountered dynamic currency conversion in Spain, but I can't remember whether I paid that bill or my friend did.

I got hit with DCC at Corte Ingles in Barcelona.

I'm guessing that DCC means a really bad currency conversion rate?

Someone on another thread on this Forum posted the following URL that explains DCC very well: http://tinyurl.com/2uqurp
