Are these hotels OK?

In late June/early July I will be traveling to Munich and Paris with my wife and 12 yr old daughter. The plan is to spend 4 days in Munich staying at the Hotel Astor (near the train station), and then taking the train to Paris and spending an additional 4 days there at the Hotel Le Clement. Both of these hotels are 2 star hotels that seem to be in a good location. Does anyone have any experience with these hotels? Also my wife has an interest in doll collecting, would anyone know of any doll factories or other places of interest for a doll collector either near Munich or in Paris?

Dave,
We were in Munich and Paris last September and stayed at the Le Clement. Loved the location and the hotel was fine - had a junior suite which would be great since it has a small bedroom with a single bed for your daughter. In Munich we stayed at the Blattls in Lehel (recommended by our friend who lives in Munich) and it was really great and inexpensive (about $70 per night) - very clean, comfortable rooms and nice friendly staff! Remembering makes me want to return! Have a great time...don't miss Neuschwanstein Castle!

I saw this place on a walk one day, and I finally tracked down the details; they make dolls and also repair antique ones:

Arielle Antiquités
16 RUE BREMONTIER 75017 PARIS
01 48 88 98 77

Dave: Beware of the Le Clement. It is a charming hotel, but the it is very poorly run. We had reservations there last Thanksgiving. I had all of the paperwork that they had sent me, but no room. They did not have it in their computer. No matter how many dated emails I showed them from their hotel, they never would even admit to their mistake. They found one night for us and found us another place, but they certainly made no mention of a taxi. We walked in the rain! We resented very much having to waste our precious time on a three day trip changing hotels. That was bad, but I warned another Fodorite who emailed me about the hotel. She decided to try it anyway. Guess what? Same scenario--no reservation when she got there! Again, they were not even very nice about losing the reservation.
