Are there trains from Cinque Terre to Florence and or Rome

Are there regular trains from the Cinque Terre area to Rome and or Rome?
If yes, does anyone know the average travel time to these areas? Are there high speed trains?
Thank you

Yes, there are trains. But there are no direct trains. You will want to get to La Spezia where you can connect to the local CT trains.

The easiest way to search is to go to trenitalia.com where there is a link for English at the top of the page.

Using the website, I found that a train from La Spezia Centrale station to Rome Termini takes 4 hours and 8 minutes and it is direct (no changes or connections to go from La Spezia to Rome).

You can do a similar search for La Spezia > Florence, or, if the English connection is down, which it is for me right now, La Spezia Centrale > Firenze SMN.

I forget to tell you about the high speed trains. On the La Spezia to Rome run, the trains are ICplus and ES, both high speed. From the CT to La Spezia, they will be local (not high speed) trains.

Reading through a few of the links from jetsetj should help you get the hang of the trenitalia.com website, which, by the way, sucks.

How do you get from Cinque Terre to La Spezia?

By train. But these are local trains. They (mostly; there used to be a few trains a day that didn't stop in every one of the towns) stop in each of the five towns. It is just a very few minutes' ride.

By train

It's not as complicated as it appears on the trenitalia site. The only thing to be careful about is to purchase your ticket for the exact one of the 5 towns where you're planning to disembark. But honestly, if I can do it (and I can, and did!), anybody can. Just ask when you buy your tickets in Italy.
