are there any scenic train rides in switzerland during winter?

My favorite form of transport is the train so I woul love to go on a scenic route while I am in switzerland late december. Are the rides only nice in warmer weather?

The trip to the Jungfraujoch is the champ of them all, but it also has a championship price!! I am not sure how late into the season it operates, but the schedule has it listed for mid December.

A little closer to December the SBB scheduler might list it.
You can contact the Swiss rail authority
at www.sbb.ch
There is an English version. Just click on the words Swiss Federal Railways in the upper right portion of the screen and English captions will appear. Although the rail line is private, the SBB scheduler lists the times.

Schedule and details here:

http://www.jungfraubahn.ch

And of course it runs all winter. Given the price, only recommended with clear weather though.

Ahem, Mr. or Ms JJ, as the case may be, the scheduler for the Jungfraubahn IS the SBB system. And no schedules are posted for the period of time AFTER December 15.
If you go to the web page you cited, and delve in far enough to look at the timetables, you will be referred to the SBB scheduler system!! And no post December 15 times are displayed.

The following notice greets you:
SBB Travel Online Fahrplan (-14.12.2002)
Fahrplanwechsel 15.12.2002

Which says, travel plan change on December 15, 2002.

I believe that there is a train that goes up the Rhone valley to Andermatt and then down the Rhine valley to Chur. Not quite the Jungfraujoch, but the road that follws the same valleys is quite spectacular. Andermatt does have nearby ski slopes.

Whilst there are feature scenic trains as mentioned in the previous posts, the normal scheduled SBB trains, which run hourly or half hourly are often more comfortable and quicker.
If you draw a line from Geneva through Berne, Lucerne and Zurich then you can pretty well guarantee that EVERY train ride to the East of that line is very scenic.
Some examples are Geneva or Berne to Brig or Domodossala - Lucerne to Interlaken - Interlaken to Montreux - Domodossala to Locarno, and best of all Lucerne to Lugano - all outstanding, and offering maximum
comfort and some speed too.
