Are there any discounters for flights within Greece?

We are planning to go to Greece next year and would like to fly to Rhodes and Santorini. I have checked the fares on both Olympic and Aegean airlines as well as Travelocity. All are pretty much the same, but seem rather expensive for such short flights. Does anyone know of a website or travel agency in Greece that can get better fares?

I suspect you have learned the hard facts of INTRA-European air travel..it is EXPENSIVE which is why RyanAir and EasyJet, etc., have been so successful.

Unfortunately, nothing shows up on whichbudget.com
Have you tried using www.opodo.com to compare the prices you found using Travelocity or Expedia?

Googling "Greek Airlines" brought up Aegean Air (see www.aegeanair.com/) as well as GoGreece's listing of domestic airlines (see gogreece.about.com/
od/domesticairlines/).

Good luck,
Linda

The ferries are more frequent and cheaper. Take any ferry to one of the cyclades maybe Paros, Naxos. There are at 4x/day down to Santorini. There is a 1/week direct ferry on 'Lane lines'.

This is not necessarily representative, but I had to attend a wedding in Crete and I checked Greek domestic flight prices with a travel agent there. The prices she quoted me were no better than what I was able to find independently on the net.

Thanks everyone. I checked out the various websites and the fares are consistent with what I have already seen. I suppose with only two carriers in Greece, the lack of competition makes it possible for Aegean and Olympic to charge these fares.

It's irony brotherleelove2004.

Several years ago Virgin Airlines flew from Athens to Crete but I don't know if they still do and at the time they offered a special rate that was better than Aegean and Olympic.
