Are there affordable guest houses in the Cotswolds region?

$50-80 seems quite high to me. My wife and I spent several wonderful days in the Cotswolds in 1998. Stayed in Morton-on-Marsh at the New Farm B&B and also the Old Farm B&B. Thes are leased by two sisters. Both were fantastic - 300 years old, stone farmhouses. Highly recommend. Cost as I recall around $46 for both of us including a great full English breakfast.

Your big problem won't be affordability. There are Cotswold B&Bs in every price range.
Your problem will be availability. Many B&Bs close over Christmas. Others close from Nov to March. So the pool of B&Bs is much less over the Xmas holidays. You should book as soon as possible.
A good option would be self catering. rent a cottage for a week or for a weekend - but these also need to be booked well ahead.
