Are shops open on Sundays in Venice?

I know that some museums may not be open, but are most shops open on Sundays, with Italy being a Catholic country.

Yes, or at least the shops around San Marco. They are open in the afternoon only.

And along the San Marco-Rialto "corridor(s)", you will find a considerable number open, I feel pretty sure.

Best wishes,

Rex

I agree. Shops will open wherever most tourists are.

Hi, Rex :-)

So, we met again over the same thread.

John, most museums ARE open on Sunday. Tuesday is the day many close. You can't go into churches to sightsee during mass on Sunday. The Accademia is open every day from 8:15-7pm but closes early (2pm) on Monday.

Actually a lot of museums are closed on Monday, with shorter hours on Sunday. Shops should be open Sunday, again shorter hours though, they want those tourist dollars!
