Are places generally opened or closed on Sundays in Spain?
 

Sorry if this had been asked before :-)

For Spain (throughout, but mainly in big cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla)
It seems like museums are open on Sundays (free admissions), but what about dept stores, areas for shopping & restaurants -- are they mostly closed or opened?

We will be in Madrid on the weekend of All Saints Day (Nov 1st). Since that falls on Monday, I figure many ppl probably are taking a long weekend vacation...?

I'm hoping to do some shopping on part of Sunday/Monday :-)
but if most places are not open, what would you recommend to do in Madrid (for that Sunday and Monday am)?

Yep most department stores and shops, in general, will be closed on any Sunday. Some tourist good shops shuld be open.
Restruants are open Sundays.
However given that the 1st Novemebr is a pubilc holiday you should cheack if a location is open or not if it is really special for your trip.
What do do will really depend on your interests...what are they?

Restaurants and tourist sights will be open - as well some tourist oriented shops. Stores patronized primarily by locals will most probably be closed. Even more true in smaller towns.

Sunday nights are usually very quiet even in larger cities with many restaurants closed (open sometimes at lunch, but not for dinner). Even in Madrid in April the Plaza Santa Ana was dead at 11pm. I like to plan my Sunday's evenings as my relaxation evenings to rest up from the prior week (or rest up for the week to come) :)
