Are passport renewals being processed more rapidly this year?

I sent mine off 8/30 and recieved my new passport on 9/17. I didn't pay extra.

I have a good feeling about this now as the average time seems to be about two weeks.

I just had my Daughters renewed & we rec'v'd everything back in less than two weeks. I think right before schools are out is the absolute worst time, to try & get (or renew) a passport.
