Thanks again. I'm on my way to Paris and Avignon -- with some skiing at Serre Chavalier in between starting Feb. 15. (A last trip with daughter before she's off to college.) I'll be scouting for flavorful regional details.

Guy,
you have hooked me with your story!
I liked the part when about Magdalena discovers Guy is a "Fodorite"
Also, I have a question for you, with the mention of Gaeta.
Have you been there?
We are spending the 2nd week of our vacation there.
Have fun with your France trip.

Nancy--This is my first trip to Europe. I've been reading these posts for months in preparation, but still feel woefully unprepared.

Guy,
I think all us first -timers to europe feel this way, because we are going some place totally unknown to us.
But, I am sure you will be fine, esp. with your vivid imagination.
I am sure this will only work in your favor.
Again,
Have fun!

Nancy, You will love Gaeta. The seafood is superb, and I had one of the best dinners of my life there. Took a picture of the shellfish bowl that was placed in front of me, because I knew my sons would never believe it. Mussels etc. are melt in your mouth. The town is a treaure to walk. Have a great time.

Topping this for the one looking for Magdalena.

In response to: "Are Itallians the best lovers?"
I actually read somewhere that this stereotype of the Itallian Cassanova is giving many Itallian men some kind of complex. Now, many are having performance problems, if you know what I mean.
So give these poor Itallian guys a break. They're under a lot of pressure.

Canadians are: slam bang, thank you maam.
Irishmen: Will talk and think about forever, but make great husbands and fathers.
Italians: A must for all women, but don't marry one. Too self-centered.
Frechmen: Too demanding.
Americans: The Best, because there is a little bit of all nationalitys in Americans.

IMO, the best lover -- in any country -- is the person who can make you feel like you're the *world's* best lover. :~)
