robjame, there were several fan sits for her and all removed!!??
I never saw so many men go crazy over someone, like back in BB's day.
There's a site that shows French in Action for free.

I find Audrey Tautou, Cecile de France (French speaking import from Belgium)and yes Segolene Royal rather sexy..........oh and also that lady in the bakery department at the Monoprix on rue Feliz Faure in the 15th. I might know one more.

Satchell Paige, the spritely, up-in-years baseball pitcher, put it well. "Age is a question of mind over matter--if you don't mind, it don't matter!!"

"And naturally your average Parisian femme is going to be far more alluring than Betty from Arkansaw with her plastic suit, tucked in white crew neck t-shirt, white trainers, and big black fanny pack to separate each half of her body, leaving the observer to wonder whether the top half is a size 20 or the bottom half's a 22."

M_2, you paint quite a pretty picture. I bet you and Betty would hit it off right nice.

I would say that many European women ( not just French)dress more" age appropriately" and have far less palstic surgery.

crefloors Jan 7th, 2007 02:02 PM

Ah, MK2..good to hear from you. And I'm quite sure you know that Arkansas is NOT spelled Arkansaw...LOL

I think a lot of americans are just sad and silly looking for the "fountain of youth". Good grief, if Joan Rivers has anymore eye work, the corners of her eyes are going to meet her hairline!!!!!

I would watch the news more regularly (rather than merely reading it) if I could watch Melissa Theuriau deliver it--in any language.

This new year has started off well with fun and informative threads, let's not spoil it with calling someone's post stupid. Ignore it if you can. Everyone's experience is different.

rkkwan Jan 7th, 2007 02:28 PM

Well, at least Sophie Marceau was, in 1995 when she appeared in a scene with John Malkovich in "Beyond the Clouds". Today, I'm not sure.

See, I'm keeping this thread travel-related, as that scene took place in a very beautiful and very quiet Portofino.

LucieV Jan 7th, 2007 02:37 PM

cigale, it's not just on this thread, I'm sorry to say. Bashing seems to be an acceptable practice here -- depending, of course, upon who's doing the bashing & to whom it's being done.
;)

Back to the topic: I honestly don't think any nationality has a corner on the market for sexiness. Women dressed in head-to-toe black chadhors, who barely utter a word, can be powerfully seductive.

cigalechanta Jan 7th, 2007 02:39 PM

Valerie Allain reminds me of Emmanuale Beart who starred in a few favorite films,
Manon of the Spring,
Belle Noisoise (sp?)
and that wonderful story of unrequieted love, Nelly and M. Arnaud-a gem of a film!

EB was/is so drop-dead gorgeous, so exquisitely beautiful. What happened to her?
I also love Catherine Deneuve. I think she's one of the few not to go under the knife, too.

Bob_KY Jan 7th, 2007 02:49 PM

The best looking women I ever saw over there were from Spain. But maybe the fact that I was 16 and grew up going to High School with lots of Bettys from Arkansaw had something to do with it.

I was very impressed with the German women last time I was there.

nbujic Jan 7th, 2007 02:57 PM

lets not forget
Arielle Dombasle and Julie Delpy

Scarlett Jan 7th, 2007 03:00 PM

Emmanuel Beart was married to Daniel Auteuil but they are divorced now. I liked them together in a film that I cannot remember the name of but he was a jealous husband ( I think life imitated art in that one) She is constantly working.
I think Deneuve has had work done, but even with her weight gain, she is still so very beautiful.

mimi, did you see Beart in Enfer, L' ?

Good God. Someone actually took the time to post this bullhooyey pasted above my wondeful comments.

Either this person was kidding or this person has way too much time on his-her hands.

Sun( Come to think of it, maybe I have too much time on my hands also) Star ;)

Yes I think the DH had this idea about the appealing French women, until we were having lunch at Laduree and the one next to us whipped out her deoderant and rolled it into her armpits.

SeaUrchin Jan 7th, 2007 03:22 PM

Bardot is my all time favorite sexy woman. My friend and I used to try and imitate her Bardot hairdo and smokey eyes.

nbujic Jan 7th, 2007 03:23 PM

EB was in L'Enfer ( Hell) - and stunning!
The actor was Francoiz Cluzet ( he looks a bit like DA.
DA was with her in Manon of the Spring.

LucieV Jan 7th, 2007 03:23 PM

I think part of the sexiness of women of other nationalities is the languages they speak. Not so much the language itself, but the mouth/lip/facial contortions required to make certain phonetic sounds. E.g.: English speakers don't have the u circonflexe -- if we did, I'll bet we'd all have those gorgeous cheek bones and sultry lips.
