Skinny leg jeans were last year, this year it's baggy mens-style jeans that are "in".

I'm really relieved that skinny jeans are back out again. I bubkled and bought a pair last winter and, blimey, how uncomfortable?

I will put them into storage and give them to my daughter in 20 years time, when they're back in.

As for the 80s thing, I had to put together an outfit for an 80s fancy dress party 3 years ago. In desperation I went into Top Shop on Oxford Street, thinking I could adapt something. No need! Day glow legwarmers, flourescent belts, peddle pushers, 'splash' pattern t-shirts, you name it. I was hoping that, as this was 3 years ago, these things would have gone back out by now, but no, worse was to come. I've noticed that this autumn, I'm, supposed to be wearing HIDEOUS knitted/tweed zip up jackets circa 1975!

Cailin, I've seen those 'boyfriend jeans'. I've decided only groovy young students can get away with them. I'd just end up looking like a frumpy lesbian.

I saw Jellies there last month--for sale, brand new, at big stores. Do you remember those? The plastic ugly shoes that made your feet sweat and then stink worse than you imagined?

I also think the dress or mini-skirt over skinny jeans looks horrible. I won't do it. I am prepared to NOT be fashionable for the next year or so.

Just say no to leggings.

Talking of which, Wednesday, did the fashion for wearing actual real riding jodphurs as fashion items ever make it over to the States? My father's in the jodphur making business, and for a while back there in the 80s he was actually approached by the likes of Gucci to make them as fashion items. I was a very cool 15 year old.

Skinny jeans are definitely not over. I personally prefer boot cut, but the lovely young things are wearing the skinny jeans. As far as capris, would you prefer seeing 'women of a certain size' wearing shorts!!!!!??????? Capris are here to stay. They can be very flattering if they are cut just above the ankle at a slim part of the leg.

"Skinny jeans are definitely not over."

They are in London, so my fashionista friends tell me. Perhaps they'll make a re-emergence when we start digging our boots out in a month's time.

No bsweet, not if the Sorrento webcam is any indication of the rest of Italia and what people are wearing.

bsweet, you'll be fine. unless they are terribly kooky styled or patterned, capris are pretty standard fare.

I also have followed the philosophy of "If I wore it the first time it was in style, I am too old to wear it the second time around". Unfortunately that leaves me with poodle skirts as the only unused fashion trend option.

I guess that is why they call classic clothes classic. They are always appropriate, always in style and fit any body type.

JAGIRL – the “Audrey Hepburn” campaign? Yes, I saw it – there is NO getting away from it, is there?

My hairdresser is raiding her mother’s closet for the 80’s long sweaters. I am completely P##$$d off that I threw out most of my (personally) hand-knitted sweaters, a year ago. I have kept a couple of gorgeous cowl-necked mohair ones.

I was in London last night and YES, I noticed a LOT of leggings on all body types and ages, worn with long sweaters and dresses.

...on all body types and ages...

...

This is one fashion trend that I am not ready to embrace...this one and those ballet shoes. I hate those!

Oh dear ... Yes, the ballet shoes, avec leggings, were everywhere, but mostly on young, skinny girls.

Skinny jeans only look skinny on skinny people. Otherwise, they look like pear jeans. Gotta be careful with those lycra leggings, too. My daughter is wearing them with skirts and long sweaters (just like I did back in the 80's)- but again, keep the leggings on the younger thinner set. Young heavies should not attempt to wear leggings either.
