Arcos de Frontera
I have a rental car and was planning to visit Arcos de Frontera, Grazalema, Zahara and Ronda. Is there anything about Arcos de Frontera that stands out? I was thinking about eliminating it from my itinerary because of time constraints. I was thinking many of the white hill towns have a similar look.

I usually hate to do this, but I was extremely disappointed in Arcos. I had high hopes but, apart from it's lofty perch, (and the views weren't even that great) it really is not that interesting, or attractive. As for the rest, Ronda is the King,, Zahara was interesting with terrific vistas, and I couldn't get to Grazalema, but had wanted too.

Yes, there is a sameness to visiting pueblos blancos. I am not sure how this became popular, but as noted Ronda is worthwhile on its on.

Though Arcos is worth a visit, (it has several churches and façades and narrow charming streets, all in the old quarters on top of the hill) it is very similar to Ronda and lacks a busy life. I'd skip it in case of hurry. White towns are similar one another, but are different to Arcos or Ronda.

If you start a must see list form Andalucia you are missing point.
It is different from the rest of Europe in terms of culture, climate, architecture, food and people. We love it but outside Granada and Seville you are just not going to see world class must sees. Arcos is very small and with very few shops or museums. Jerez isn't much further and is well worth a visit, as is the coast between Cadiz and Sanlucar. |
Thanks for all the replies. I think I will skip Arcos and include short visits to Cadiz and Nerja to add variety.
