Arcona living munchen or Pullman Munich

Hi,

We are visiting Munich for the Oktoberfest in September 2015. We wanted a hotel in city centre close to the Marienplatzs. Being the Oktoberfest all the hotels in the city centre are really expensive. We have shortlisted 2 hotels 1.) Arcona living Munchen & 2.) Pullman Munich.
Has anyone stayed in any of these hotels previously? I have seen the trip advisor reviews for both the hotels and can't really decide which to choose.
Which of these is better located? We want some activity around the hotel like restaurants, cafes etc.
Ancona living is located in Neuhasen-Nymphenburg whereas Pullman is located in Schwabing.
Any recommendations?

Arcona living would be my pick.

Thank you flpab. Could you please tell me why would Arcona be your pick?

Are you familiar with the Schwabing section of Munich at all? You might find it to be a bit more lively. There are a lot of bars, clubs, and restaurants, and the Englischer Garten is not that far away The issue, also, might be how close you are to public transport, and both hotels appear to be within easy walking distance of stations (and possibly tram lines).

If you haven't done so, use googlemaps for the street views of the surroundings of both properties.

Well, Schwabing is a rather big district and the Pullman's location is a far cry from the quirky pubs, cafes and shops that central Schwabing is known for.
There is nothing in the immediate neighborhood of the hotel, except the Northern Cemetary - but the lively parts of Schwabing are just two subway stops away around Münchner Freiheit.

While the Arcona's very location is also mildly ghastly (at a major intersection, fortunately the freeway is in a tunnel, so noise should not be a big issue), there is more is easy walking distance. The neighborhood around Rotkreuzplatz has several restaurants, small beer garden, shops, cafes etc. as is only some 5 minutes walking away.

To go to the Oktoberfest grounds, both hotels are equally okay - and, by the way, would still be considered to be centrally located, especially the Arcona.
From the Pullman, you'd take subway line 6 to Goetheplatz - and walk 10 minutes.
From the Arcona, you'd take bus #53 to Theresienhöhe - and walk 10 minutes.
Either trip is appr. 15 minutes, trains/buses every 10 minutes minimum - so not exactly a long complicated trek from the middle of nowhere.

As I said, the issue may be how far you are from public transport and thank you, Cowboy1968, for reinforcing that very fact.
