Archeobus in Rome

The Archeobus hop-on/hop-off tour in Rome at Termini station is a rip off!! Don't waste your euros or your time. They dropped us off at the catacombs, three hours later, two spent waiting, I called the office at Termini(thank God for cell phone rentals!). They could not even tell me when the next bus would be there to pick us up!!
Very poorly done!!We were basically stranded at the catacombs!Terrible experience

Thanks for advice. I'm about to go to Rome and was planning to do the Archeobus but will reconsider. Any other suggestion as to a hop on-off bus in Rome that is better....?

In February, we had a good experience with the Archeobus. We left from Piazza Venezia, not Termini.

Did you ever find out what happened? Flat tire? Road closure?? We used it and loved it - hopped on/off and never waited more than 10 minutes. We saw so much that we couldn't have seen otherwise. I am sorry that you had a bad experience but I've only heard good things about it on this board (even though people are much more likely to post when something goes wrong than when things go normally).

fiveas: Hopefully it was just a flute that unfortunately happened on your trip :(.
And you are right to post about it, this way if it becomes a habit with them others will post also.
I've had a couple of good tours with them in '02 & '03 with no problems and hourly buses.
I've read a couple of other posts about the pick-up at Termini instead of Piazza Venezia. But 1 post was before my '03 trip but they still left from Piazza Venezia when I took it.
So I'm wondering did you buy the tickets at Termini and leave from Termini or did you have to go to Piazza Venezia?
Regards, Walter
