Hi Again aprilmay,

We have not stayed overnight, but some on Fodor's do reccomend the overnight. You will get lots of advice, I am sure. If we were doing it again, we would book Man of Aran.

Have you looked into flying to Inis Mor' instead ferrying? It was fun and a very different perspective from the air. It only takes 10 minutes and you get there way ahead of the crowds.

We did leave the car only for the day at Inverin flight area, but if you leave nothing of value in the car, I don't foresee a problem. Others may disagree, as I can't remember if any of these parking areas are secured.

See you at The Shores! Tme is fleeting, isn't it?

several threads on this and different opinions
We found a few hours ( in July) more than enough time

When we were there a few years ago, we stayed at Milvurney House which is close to MOA Cottage. We did eat dinner there though, which was delightful. There is a parking area near the ferry terminal. No problem leaving the rental car there. We didn't reserve the ferry ahead of time.

I strongly recommend that you look for the other threads here on the Aran Islands 'cause there's been discussion about these things recently. I'm aware of it 'cause I'm hoping (if the weather allows the ferries to run!)to be spending the night on Inis Mor two weeks from last night.

I'm pretty sure that Cowboy Craic has mentioned the Man of Aran cottage on more than one thread.

Anyway, type Aran Island into the search box and you should get lots of good, current info. Good luck!:)

We stayed at the Man of Aran in March of 2002 and would do it again in a heartbeat. The proprietors are great people, we loved the place. I wouldn't worry.

We plan to take the ferry to the Aran Islands from Doolin in late April. We'll leave the car at our B&B (Doolin Activity Lodge) and just go for the day. As the weather may be iffy we are planning to use Doolin as a base for 3 days. Will go to the Cliffs and the burren on the other days we can't take the ferry. Less traffic than going through Galway.
