Apt rental in Rome for Oct 2010 - to reserve now or wait a bit???
We (2 adults) are traveling to Rome 20 Oct -27 Oct. We are interested in a clean, safe space, centrally located, without too many stairs to climb - 20 or less. We would like at least a queen size bed, which where we can sleep at night without too much street noise. We’re looking to pay under 700 euros for the week, all inclusive.
As we are reviewing the many websites for economy options for apt rentals (incl. but not limited to rentalinrome.com, romanreference.com, and theapartment.it/flipkey.com), we have found some seemingly good options from 630 to 690 euros in the Navona/Campo Fiori areas. We understand our stay is during high season and for past European trips we’ve always reserved well ahead. However, we have never rented an apt. before, and are debating whether to 1) jump on what we see now, 5 months in advance, having to pay up approx. 20% down up front, OR 2) wait a few more months and hold out for some closer to “last minute” offers. It does seem like there is a lot of availability.
What do you recommend? Thanks a million for your help!

I agree with avalon, if you find an apartment you like the look of, and it is available, then reserve it now.
I've rented in Rome and Florence with www.sleepinitaly.com and been very happy with the service from them.
Good luck and have a great time.
