Apt Location in Dublin
We are considering an apt rental in Dublin for a short stay in February. Would appreciate any comments on the location of this apt
http://tinyurl.com/22pw3j (Scroll down and there is a map showing its location.) We dont mind walking to get to sites, but would like an area that has shops and restaurants convenient to it. Thanks for your comments. |
Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. I'd stay there if I needed accommodation in Dublin, BUT... I know the city; I know the vibes.
If you are streetwise, it's a good location; if you are not, be warned that it's a marginal area. |
Thanks -- I live in a big city and am defintely streetwise, but don't think I want to stay in a marginal area with just a few days in Dublin.

I was trying to be measured, and by marginal I meant marginal as distinct from definitely to be avoided. But I understand your position, and I'm not going to try to persuade you to change it.
In general, the south inner city is a better bet than the north inner city. If you turn up other prospects, I'll try to give you helpful guidance. As will, no doubt, some of our other participants who know Dublin. |
Actually I took the word marginal to mean as u described it. Where I live we use marginal to describe places that are not unsafe, but not completely safe. Thanks for the tip about the South inner city.

Wherever you decide to stay - make sure you're not on top of, or next to any loud discos! :)

I have to second Padraig. Fine in day but I would get a taxi back at night due to being just off a main street and there could be some people "hanging out". Marginal.
Then again there were hookers on my street when I bought my first apartment but hey it improved. :-) Nice looking apt though. |
thanks--I think I'm going to skip on the apt. Yes, I thought it looked like a nice one, but you all have convinced me that it might not be the neighborhood for this particular trip.
