Apt in Rome with terrace
 

Looking for a one bedroom apartment in Rome which is centrally located and has a terrace with a good view. I've checked out several sites, but was looking for your thoughts and opinions.

Can you give us more details on the one you are looking at?

I've looked at several, nothing specific yet. Was moreso looking for your opinions on a well situated apartment with a view. Am hoping to find something for apprx. 200E.

While not centrally located, I stayed here last May and loved it.

We stayed here in Oct 2007 and absolutely loved the terrace, which is huge - bigger than it appears in the photos. We spent many many hours there both day and night.

It is also brilliantly located in Campo de Fiori.

In case you are worried about noise, the bedroom faces an inner lift well/courtyard and is relatively quiet.

The agency is also great to work with.

My husband and I rented an apartment last September that has an amazing terrace and location. Problem is, you could hear the traffic rushing by at all hours of the night. Even with earplugs and sleeping pills I couldn't get a good night's sleep. During the day however, we spent a lot of time on the terrace and it was great. We also loved being so central to everything. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you want to take a look, go to this site, click on Apartments in Historic Centre, then Nicola:

We loved this apartment in Rome in Nov 2007.

The shower is small and awkward if you're over 6ft tall but the terrace is nice and the location is excellent.
Can you cope with the stairs? about 80!

We are interested in the Queen Apartment you rented. Was there anything we should know before committing? Looks like there is a lift. What floor was it on? Sounds like the perfect location. Quiet? Anything you think we should know about before commiting, we would appreciate.

From memory we paid around 1200 euros for the week - this was October 2007. At the time this was the mid to higher end as I recall. The price is on the website I think.

There were other apartments I found for a similar or lower cost which seemed to be much nicer inside but did not have the terrace. It is the terrace and the location which makes this apartment so special - both are amazing. That said the interior is fine but I probably would rent a different apartment in mid winter.

I have nothing but good memories of the apartment, particularly the terrace and the location. And all good with the agency as well.

I have just rented the apartment for a week in March. We got an exceptional rate.

I rented it in March 2008, through rentalinrome.com. The rate I am paying in March 2009 is WAY less than I paid in 2008! Go figure!

This apartment would not suit everyone. Its location on the Lungotevere is dramatic but it's not a traditional, ultra-cute/ "picturesque" corner of The Eternal City. Head to P.zza Navona or Spanish Steps for that.

However, one block away, you are in the heart of the centro storico. Good foodstore on Piazza Nicosia, great restaurants within 10 minutes' walk.

I DID suffer from noise a couple of nights: Some jerks on motorcycles race along the Lungotevere. But nowadays I travel with earplugs anyway.

BTW: Not one but 2 terraces: a small one off the bedroom, a spacious one off the living room.

Next door is the office of Bulgari, the jewellers -- so you can sit on the terrace and fantasize about what's in their vaults...

So yes, I have just rented it for a second time. To date, my satisfaction with the company is high.

Check slowtrav.com for reviews of apartments this company offers. There are three. (The slowtrav reviews of the apartments generally include comments about the agency.)

Go to slowtrav, click successively on Italy, Rome, Rental reviews (or reviews then Rome -- I forget the order in which the choices are presented).

Then rearrange the rental reviews by agency -- click on Agency to rearrange thus. Scroll down and all the reviews for that agency are grouped together.

The three reviews are pretty positive, although one reviewer did comment on a mix-up in reservations.

BTW, the Matias2006 posts have now been deleted by the Editors. I guess I was right -- i.e. he was a fake.

His company has some nice apts, though -- which now I'll never be allowed to rent, LOL!!!

BTW: If you were willing to go above your original price ceiling, to about 235 E/nt (for a week's rental) check out this 1900 sq foot terrace and 1000 sq ft penthouse on via della Scrofa!!!! I just spotted it on rentalinrome.

In 2007, we stayed at www.angelishouse.it in Trastevere A.

Very nice appartment, on the quiet side of Trastevere, near a supermarket.

You can rent a cellphone from the owner for 3Euros per day + time that you buy.

(The restaurant beside the building has the best Carbonara ever.)

The appartment is also close to the more upbeat section of Trastevere so its fun to go eat there and come back at the quiet place.

Also, from the roof-top terrace, you can see St-Peter,s dome. Nice addition.
