We're planning a trip to the Netherlands for April or May 2001. Anyone know the average temps at that time of year? We're also considering adding a few days in Barcelona Spain for sightseeing and beaches--will it be warm enough for the beach?

Beaches warm in April/May? No way, Lori. Ice cold, would be more like it.
Average water temp around May 1-15 would be about 45 - 50 degrees. It gets semi comfortable around July 1-15 and really pleasant about August 1-15.

Definately not warm enough for the beach. If you want to go to the beach, head to southern Spain - La Costa del Sol. It'll be nice and warm there in early May.

The Netherlands in April/May can be anything between 8C and 23C (average around 15C). If you are lucky it will be sunny and very nice, if you are unlucky it will be rainy and windy. Most probably: some sun, some rain.

I was in Maastricht last May for almost the entire month, and did not know what to expect weather wise. My best advise is bring lots of layering items. It may be 55 and drizzle on afternoon, and 70 and sunny the next. I didn't notice much consistancy. It never went below about 50 at night though.
