When we first went to Spain I wondered how it would feel to eat much later than we normally did. I remember being near the Plaza Mayor in Madrid the first night. It was 11:30PM and the temperature was 98 degrees F or so and we were eating dinner and it was, in a word, wonderful!

We had the same feeling, Dukey, but no choice. We stayed at a hacienda that included dinner, to be served at 9:00 pm. It was so hot you could hardly breathe. They kept saying it was too hot to be in the kitchen. We finally ate around mid-night. We quickly got used to it, and there really was nothing open early way back then.
We have also had the funny experience a few times in Spain and Italy, being told, yes, they were serving dinner. We were seated, and after waiting for what seemed like forever, learning, yes, they are serving dinner, but not for another hour or two. Once, in Sicily, it was after 8:00 and the chef had not arrived.
I enjoy the differences between countries.

FWIW, which isn't much, we eat dinner between 9:30 and 10 pm in summer, when the sun doesn't go down until late. Just seems natural, as does going to bed around 1-2 am.

I'm a big believer in the medieval concept of two sleeps: https://www.sciencealert.com/humans-...e-should-again

One more thing we agree on. I am certain I was born to sleep more than once a day. Thanks for the link to the article. I think some of our ill health, both physical and mental is the result of disregarding natural ways of functioning.
