apartmentsramblas.com Barceloneta mar

Hello.
We were in Barcelona for 6 day in this apartment. The apartment was not worth the money we spent for it(high season). We are not the tipe of people who live in the room the whole week of the stay, but what can i say, sometimes hostels are cleaner than this apartment was. The pictures on the website were modern, all ikea style furniture, clean....the real pictures is...cockroaches, insects, walls thin as paper, we could hear the people on the street talking for the whole night,no air, big humidity level,no bed, filthy windows,no light, weird smelly towels, full of dust, there was only a couch sofa and a third sofa from which coacroaches were coming day after day,..not to mention the office staff when we leaved, we agreed at the first day we could leave in the morning at 8am...but we had to wait the staff to come to the office at 11.30am. This made a bad start for the rest of our trip. After our home arrival we received a note to make a comment of the apartment, off course we wrote what we saw and of course it was not approved by the policy of the apartments manager. So there was no comment left. I think they should treat their customers better and maybe clean their apartments more, what can I say,it was cleaner when we left, and we took the garbage out.

Obviously I cannot comment on the cleanliness or lack thereof, but the website states quite clearly in text and pictures that there is no real bed but just one sofa-bed and another couch sofa.

If you have such an unpleasant experience, it is much more useful to ask for the "libro de reclamaciones" - which gets checked by the officials to review the complaints.
IME, Spain is one of the places where cleanliness is driven to the extreme rather than to the opposite.

I have stayed for a week in another apartment in a street parallel to this one, and yes, there was "noise" from the street. But you cannot expect else if you take a look at the neighborhood with street view and see how narrow the streets and tall the buildings are.

Humidity is something you cannot make go away when you reside 20 yards from the sea. Besides that, the last week was not exactly steaming hot in Barcelona, so I wonder where all that unpleasant weather came from.

I guess you can wonder many things but I suggest you to go and try yourself you just cannot talk about cleanliness in this apartment .Unless you work for this company I guess, because as I have seen, they had no negative complaints, and the one who had like us, they erased them because they dindt match the company interests. I love Spain I am shore there are a lot of clean apartments out there but this was not the case. I know what I saw and coacroaches defintely are not a part of a clean apartment for 480euros for 6 day. It is maybe cheap to you but for me it is too much and I wont pay for coachroaces in my bed!!! If wanted them I would go to a very trashy hostel.About humidity, you could not open the windows, just a part of them and they were dirty one one side, one the other they had iron fence ..so it was impossible to change air normally. We had to open the door constantly. The unpleasant smell came from the room the first day we arrived, it was stinky and dirty, and also the last day when we realized we could not leave in the morning.
We just wanted to say how disappointed we were with them. I think we still leave in democracy and if they have a bizniss, well let them know what is wrong. But of course this kind of oppinions are not welcome.

I suggest you write a serious letter to the apartment management company demanding a partial refund on your cockroach infested room. Tell them you are contacting the following consumer website as well as Hacienda ( the tax collectors) in Cataluña if your request is not fulfilled QUICKLY.

I can guarantee you the city is anxious to hear from disgruntled tourists with these shady tourist apartment problems.

It will be interesting to see if they even have a license to do what they are doing.

I hope you have an official receipt for this transaction. If not, have someone help you notify authorities of that irregularity also.

Please write whoever confirmed your email, sending a copy to apartmentsramblas.com, so they can look into it. I would certainly hope someone would adjust at lest what you have paid down to a price you can be happier with under the dire circumstances.

Hi,

we paid the rest of the money the first day of the arrival, and also a 200eur deposit in cash because we did not have visa or mastercard. We got a receipt for the deposit, which was returned the last day.My partner paid in cash but I am pretty shore he did not get a receipt of thew whole payment.I have only one bank transfer receipt of the reservation deposit for 95,95. We did not actually think any kind of refund was possible and we just wanted to say what we think loudly and maybe someone would not make our mistake reading this.
Thank you for the advice.

My suggestion is.. make the big complaint while you are there, in writing and in person,.. and get some response from the owners or management company and if they do not respond eventually seek local consumer office to lodge a complaint, or at least do so after you get home. I think you MAY still be able to get something IF you actually made a big fuss while there. If you didn't make a BIG fuss while there, ( when they could have moved you) then probably not possible.

In any case, the Health department/tourist/consumer offices should be notified of this particular incident. Some Barcelona apartments are getting into a difficult situation since the city passed out way too many permits for this activity within normal residential buildings and other residents are getting fed up. I hope you have photos to back up your complaint.

I would find this somewhat satisfying to take this as far as it can go in your free time.
