Apartments in Rome, Christmas 2010
 

We are a family of 5 - 2 adults 3 teenage boys and will be in Rome from 27 Dec 10 to 2 Jan 11. Have been trying to book an apartment with 2 bathrooms in the Piazza Navonna/Campo dei Fiori area. Many are booked out. I have had a response for a 2 bed/2 bath apartment at Pasquino on Via dei Leutari. They will only book for a week at this time and the price is 2760 euros. Is this good value??

You'd have to compare it to other rentals on VRBO or SleepInItaly for that time period. The sites DO list the "High" season or "Holiday" season pricing.

It sounds like a lot to me. But I paid E600 for five days in an apt that slept four (a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen pullout in the living room), one bath, full kitchen. This was in May of this year, and in the Campo de Fiori area.

So, do some comparisons and perhaps keep looking is my suggestion.

Please note- Prati is north of the Vatican, so not central. But depending on your budget, you might look at outskirts, especially those apartments that are near public transportation.

Just wanted to give you some ideas about pricing. No matter what you find on these sites (I have rented through VRBO and SleepInItaly both, and was very, very satisfied with both), always email the owner to get an actual verification that the dates you want are available, and what the cost will be. This will usually include a small deposit. For holiday week, may require more.

We stayed in a flat that had 2 bedrooms, 1 doule with a full unsuite, and 1 room with 3 single beds that had another full bathroom. It was on via Guilia near Campo di Fiori. It was called Moon from www.romepower.com and we would recommend it. Only negative was that it was noisy in the mornings from street noise, but we were usually up early anyways.

I think that is not the best rate you can get. And I wouldn't panic either if some agencies seem to be fully booked.

We were in Rome for Christmas two years ago, we booked somewhere in September and managed to find two great apartments.
We are a couple and rented only a 1 bedroom near Navona and paid around 1200 euros, holiday season rate. Instead we had friends with kids who got a two bedroom and paid around 2000 euros for an apartment close to the Pantheon. We rented from Domus (www.domusintl.com), their rates were more convenient. I am not sure if rates have changed in these past years, but I still think maybe 2760 euros is too much.

This apartment says it sleeps 5 (not sure whether #5 is a sleeper sofa or whether a cot/bed is brought in) and has two baths.
