I have not stayed in this apartment, but have used the agency for a 2 bedroom last year with good results. I've always thought this looked like a great place to stay:

Three of us stayed here in October, 2011 and just loved it. Terrific location and very nice apartment. I know you are looking for a 1 bedroom and this is a 2 bedroom but you might appreciate a little extra space!

I don't recall a thread about Rome apartments like the Paris one. If you post what amenities you need and a budget, you will get a lot of suggestions.

Like any major city, there aren't many low times. Perhaps mid July to late August you can find some bargains because of the heat and a bit of January/February.

Tedgale has a review of the Miguel apartment on one his trip reports.
