Apartments in Cinque Terre
 

Five of us are planning on spending a week (6 nights) in the Cinque Terre next fall, with day trips to Pisa, Florence &amp; Lucca. I have found a couple of apartments (in Manarola and Riomaggiore). Anyone stayed in an apartment in any of the CT towns that they'd recommend? Not too worried about cost since we'll be splitting it five ways.<BR>Thanks for any assistance.

I stayed at Anna Michielini's apartment on my honeymoon in August 2001. Highly recommended. We loved Riomaggiore, and I will stay in that town next time I go. Excellent value for families or groups. Very clean, plenty of room, shower is tiny like everywhere in Italy! Two bedrooms each with a double bed, one twin bed in the hallway, and a kitchen with couch and TV. Daniela speaks English and gave us a bottle of her father's wine as a wedding gift. Riomaggiore has a neat rocky swimming area that we loved. The apartment is across the street from the town's only nightlife, Bar Centrale, which could be a problem if you want to sleep before they do. Another thought - consider Levanto, which is the next town past CT. It's has several advantages to actually staying in CT, especially for a long stay: It is a 5 minute train ride to CT (or 2 1/2 hour hike); it has a nicer beach than any CT town; there are less tourists; there are many hotels, apartments and places to eat in every price range; It's easty to drive to and park in; and it's a beautiful little Riviera town.
