Apartment with good kitchen in Florence

I have just read Kinta Beevor's "A Tuscan youth", in which she describes life in Tuscany in the first decades of the 20th century. A bit outdated maybe but still fun to read. It certainly inspired my husband and me to visit Florence. One of the things we love about Italy is the wonderful food markets. While staying in a hotel has its advantages, seeing all the wonderful fish and vegetables knowing we have no facility to prepare them in ourselves makes us feel sorry. We are planning a week's stay in Florence in October and are looking for a self catering apartment in a quiet part of town, away from the touristic hotspots. The area near Poggio Gerhardo or Fiesole are a short bus ride away from town we reckon. Any advice is most welcome!

I would suggest that you try Owner's Direct, Tuscany Now and Casa Tuscany. All of these sites have holiday rental properties. You will find a great selection of villas and apartments in Florence and in the countryside as well. I have had success with Owner's Direct in France and Tuscany Now in Italy. I found them excellent to work with. Enjoy your italian holiday!

B & B Leopoldo is about a 10 minute walk from central Florence and has a full kitchen for your own use. We loved the owner, the room and the hospitality.

It looks good! Thank you. I can't wait to go. Unfortunately it now looks like we won't be able to go much before November. I'm a bit worried that it might be the rainy season then. Any advice is welcome.

I use VRBO often when traveling in Europe. I am going in January with friends, but we want to stay closer to city center. These are 2 in Fiesole that I culled from my list.
