Apartment rental in Prague

Any recommendations regarding location pros/cons on renting an apartment in Prague for a few days in October? Thanks! we don't mind walking far :)

Hotels are fairly inexpensive in Prague. You can find decent ones in the old town for not a lot of money. Most hotels include breakfast in the price.

Prague one (ie old town, malostranska etc), Novo Mesto or Vinohrady. Don't do Zizkov, or Prague 4,5 or 6.

SloJan2 - Correct me if I'm wrong, but I usually hone in on Wenceslaus Square and search from there.

IMHO Wenceslaus is too far from Old Town - and iMHO too modern. I go for closer to the Old Town and river - or across the river, below the castle

Hi pougal,
We stayed at Property 85711 from Homeaway.co.uk in Prague in June for four nights. The apt was exactly as pictured. Located in Mala Strana just two blocks from the bridge but very very quiet. The girl that met us with the keys was very nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Thank you I'll check hotels and apartments .
Any recommendations for hotels? Something with old world style.

Rastaguy, I am not a fan of the Wenceslaus area as the side streets are dicey (though not dangerous) at night. This is where the majority of the 'brothel apartments' are. The end toward Muzeum is a big drug buying area as well. Again, side streets. I would hone in on old town/Mustek/Staromeska/Malostranska area. Vinohrady and Novo Mesto can also be quite nice (quieter and still convenient) and a bit less spendy.

Praha2 Vinohrady is the best for me

efemerid, best for me too. That's where I live. :D

I would never hone in on Wenceslas Square as a desirable location myself. In the broad sense, anything in Prague 1 fairly close to a metro stop would be okay. I prefer the Josefov area myself. I like Vinohrady, also, but for someone who has never been there, I wouldn't pick that as the best bet.

Wenceslas Square IS in Prague 1 which is Old Town, however.

this is a good website for finding apatments, I have used them in the past and have just booked aging with them for a trip later this year.
as to location I would say anywhere in the old town area including the lower part of wenseslas Square would be fine. I live areas like Vinohrady ,Smichov/Andel and the Dejvicka areas, you can get more bang for your buck in these places but you would have to use Public transport to get to places, but in Prgaue that is not a major problem as it is so goo frequent and cheap.

We were in Prague in May and stayed at the Hunger Wall Apartments. http://www.hungerwall.eu/en/
It was a gem. Great location...just across the river from the National Museum. Easy walking location.

The building is old....but the apartments are quite modern and come with a washer and dryer.

There is a great cafe on the ground floor. The rate includes breakfast in the cafe.. We ordered whatever we wanted off the menu
