Apartment rental in Athens and Santorini

Can anyone suggest an apartment rental in Athens and Santorini? I cant seem to find a suitable and available rental on vrbo.com. Your response is greatly appreciated.

For Santorini please define 'suitable' and include your village of choice, the required amenities, your travel dates and your maximum daily accomodation budget.

Please express your budget in Euro.

Hi

Yes budget is the big issue. In Athens these may be suitable - http://www.athensstudios.com. Apart from better value issues I assume you're looking for an apartment because it's self contained i.e kitchen, washing machine etc. One of the best things about the Greek islands is that there is plenty of choice for self contained accommodation. They'll call them hotels and villas but many are studio rooms. One eg. for Santorini is Dolphins Apartments - http://www.dolphins-santorini.gr. However I suggest you splash out and get something with a caldera view - a balcony is mandatory! I always thought Blue Dolphin Apartments in Firostefani were good value but gee looks like they have jacked the price up too. It's getting harder to find a good deal for a caldera view!

If you were looking at usual apartment resource vrbo etc, they usually want minimum of 7 days. If you are looking for something with 1 bedroom + LR that has a kitchenette niche + balcony -- these are often called "Studios" or "1 BR studio units". IN many islands there are more of these available than free=standing "villas" or multiple BR apartments. And all the things that brotherleelove asked you to supply are Key ... otherwise we cannot give sensible advice.

PS: I just clicked your name and saw that you're from NYC (i lived in Manhattan 35 yrs) and it occurred to me, if u were on a USA travel forum and someone wrote: I am visiting NYC and I cant seem to find a suitable apartment rental, response appreciated, what would y our reaction be? I will quote from your profile (WTF) then you'd say: when? How long? what size & amenties do u need? budget? in $$ etc. Just sayin' :-) it all matters.

in santorini, oia or firostephani? if oia, is car rental a must?

hskol May 5th, 2011 05:56 AM

With your budget you should have no problem getting something from the place I stayed, AthensPenthouses:

Can't speak to availability though if the Special Olympics coincide with your dates, I would guess they are full - they are very popular:

Otherwise have you tried these as well?

I've been traveling to Greece for a couple of years now with family and as a couple and we love apartment living but we've learned to book our dates first and then plan our trip because the market there (specifically in Athens) is pretty limited when it comes to suitable apartments for our American family :-) (a little spoiled are we? Sure ....)

hi can someone tell me how long drive is from athens to delphi. delphi to Nafplio. Nafplio to Corinth and Corinth back to Athens airport? thanks in advance.

If you're staying in Oia renting a car makes the best sense for exploring the island. Be sure to go to your local AAA office to pick up an International Driving Permit, no test or membership required, for $15 plus a photo fee if you don't bring 2 passport photos with you.

IF you want full info on driving you can get it yourself by using Michelin Drive planner, just put in your 2 dstinations, it shows you roads on a map, full text directions, duration of trip, distance, even cost of trip (petrol/tolls). A handy website to master & consult.

Summagold, just fyi I recently drove that route but decided you were an obnoxious New Yorker and I would stay out of this thread. Guess I was wrong about whether I would stay out of this thread.

Hi again

You could try Phenix Studios - http://www.phenix.gr. This is in Imerovigli though (one up from Firostrefani). The views are magnificent. I suggest you email them to determine how they can accommodate you. I would suggest 2 apartments, hopefully you'll have them next to each other. Looks like they are in your budget.
