Having had lots of success in the London forum for that part of our trip, I have narrowed down our Paris accommodation to:

Do you think early June will be too cold for the clothes to dry naturally after washing? Some places don't have a dryer, so this will help eliminate some places or I suppose I could go to a laundromat to dry...

Open to suggestions/criticism etc, love your wisdom on location and something I may have missed in looking at each apartment.

You've found some very attractive apartments. I noticed that at least two of them (from parisattitude) state that the agency fee is not included. I recommend that you ask what the total price is, including all fees, for any of them.

Of all of them, I prefer the location of the "Pantheon-Sorbonne" one. I like that area very much within easy walking distance of the Luxembourg Gardens and a pleasant walk to Notre Dame and Ile de Saint Louis and many interesting streets nearby, including the Rue de la Montagne Sainte Genevieve.

If you choose the apartment on Rue Montmorency, make sure to go to the bakery/patisserie on that street (on section where Auberge Nicolas Flammel is located). We discovered it while seeking out Auberge Nicolas Flammel and returned every morning for their outstanding buttery croissants and other treats. We first noticed a line of people in front of the bakery in the early evening; otherwise, we might not have noticed it. It doesn't look very special but its products are great. We also enjoyed the Auberge Nicolas Flammel and had two excellent lunches there. There is a restaurant/traiteur (take-out of prepared food) just across the street from Auberge Nicolas Flammel, too. It's named Au Duc de Montmorency at #46. The food looked very good but we didn't fit it in.

As to whether June will be too cold for clothes to dry naturally, I don't think so. I've found the European washing machines spin the wash very throughly so items dry fairly quickly. If you can open a window or two, that will help!

Parisattitude clearly states the agency fee is included in the quotes for weekly rates, they don't include it for the monthly or long-term rentals, same as one of the others (1st one I think).

I would never depend on drying on a rack in an apt for anything beyond underwear, lightweight shirts, etc., in any season. If you intend to wash serious stuff like jeans or towels, etc., I think you would always need a laundry.

I think they are all pretty decent. I for one am not crazy about any of those loft situations and avoid them, but the one on rue Victor Cousin looks nice and at least the stairs look fairly decent. I like the location of it and the second one you list near rue Mouffetard, I've stayed in both areas a couple times and really like them. The apt on rue Linne is not where I would choose to stay, I don't think it's as convenient a location nor near as much "stuff" (cafes, restaurants, metro, markets, etc.). It's also mainly around a bunch of university buildings and the jardin des Plantes and then the Arenes, just less residential to some extent.

I don't think the location of the first one you list in the Marais is that convenient in terms of proximity to a metro stop, I wouldn't stay there myself. But that's your choice.

I find European dryers leave clothes very wrinkled as most are all in one washer/dryer. Light weight clothing will dry but use a laundry service for heavier items.
We used www.justfrance.com twice and were very pleased with their service.

European dryers are NOT always included in a washer. I have currently in my house one very good washing machine, and one dryer.

However, in cities, there is not always enough room for both appliances, and in addition, there it it is not always possible to vent the dryer outside.

This leads to a machine, not known in North America, which does both.However, you need to know that in this case, the machine will usually only dry half the load it will wash. Since it is often drying through condensation, with water collecting somewhere, rather than through evacuation, where the moist air gets sent outside, this is not always too effective. In this case you either hang things up to dry, or take them to a laundry service.

Hanging things up is remarkably efficient, in most cases.

Thanks so much IdyllicItaly and Christine for taking the time to look at each one. I'm undecided about ParisAttitude as on the TA forum they've had varying reviews... only considered them because a friend recommended them (rented with them last year)

The apartment appears to be very well equipped and, while smaller than most if not all of the others, seems to have a very good layout.

I don't know when you're traveling but it appears that the homeaway listing doesn't have air conditioning. Do you know what floor it's on? I don't see that mentioned nor whether there is an elevator. As you likely know, the European way of naming floors differs from that in the U.S. What we call the second floor, they call the first floor, and so on.

If this apartment become a finalist, I recommend that you ask for reviews from previous customers. After having been burned once in Rome, we ver rarely rent an apartment that doesn't already have many very positive reviews.
