Apartment recommendations in Madrid

Hello. We will be travelling to Spain in late October and looking to stay at an apartment for 3 nights, with 2 boys in tow age 10 and 8. We prefer to be within walking distance to sights and public transportation. Where do you suggest we stay in Madrid? Any suggestions and recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi , we have used Spain Select a few years ago and will be using them in April.
Most of their apt are on monthly basis , but the FIRST page of their Madrid site lists apt. available for shorter periods ( 3 days min.)

We stayed in the Spain Select Plaza Mayor I for 3 nights and loved it. The living area faces Plaza Major but the two bedrooms do not, so noise in the plaza is not that much of a factor. We walked a lot or took buses...the bus stop was just around the corner from the apartment.

Thank you for your responses.
Judy - how much was the nightly rate?

We rented an apt from Spain Select at Plaza de la Paja. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. However, the 2nd bedroom was TINY!. It had two twin beds separated by a little night table. Both beds touched the side walls. Other than that we liked the apt and its location.

You can fin rates for this and the other apts mentioned above at the website.

Thanks for recommending Spain Select. I have inquired about available units, but unfortunately, they are fully booked with short term stays during our planned visit to Madrid. I wonder if there are any other agencies that anyone can recommend? Would prefer apartment rental over a hotel, but we may have to reconsider.

Yes, check Friendly Rentals. It also has a good reputation.

So it looks like we will be sharing an apartment with another family which changes our search to a 3-bedroom apt rental in Madrid. Friendly rentals has these two units available. Has anyone stayed in either Latina III or Latina I? What is the neighborhood like? From the rental website, it sounds like an ideal place to stay but would appreciate first hand experiences from anyone who has stayed in these units.

Kukunt, we are looking for something similar to you! I guess they aren't quite as booked in October as they are in May. I had no luck with Spain Select and doesn't look like Friendly Rentals has much either. Have you learned about any other apartment rental agenices? Does anyone have any ideas for hotels. There will be 6 women traveling in our group. I suppose we will get a suite and 2 doubles? Will be so much more expensive to get a hotel vs. an apartment.

Kuku I will stay in touch if I find anything.

rede440, we are 2 families travelling to Madrid, Seville, Granada and Barcelona so renting an apartment in each of these cities is probably the most economical than staying in hotels. We had no luck with availability with Spain Select. I haven't looked into hotels outside of Rick Steves' recommendations and there are so many choices out there. You can also try www.habitatapartments.com. Good luck.
