apartment or villa rental in France?

This is something I'd very much like to research and plan -- but I haven't the foggiest idea of what to start or what to expect.

Where else to start my query than this bulletin board?

Any tips?

Where in France? You won't, for example, find many villas in Paris or other large cities.

check out www.vrbo.com. This is a website that will link you directly to the owners of villas/apts in France.

thanks kangamom. I'll check it out.

Underhill -- I hope to find an apartment for a week-10 days in Paris and a villa in the south of Fr for a week-10 days.

winterland, in addition to vrbo (which we've used a couple of times), look also at:

www.frenchconnections.co.uk

www.holiday-rentals.co.uk

www.gites-de-france.fr/fr/index.htm (click on the Union Jack for English)

There have been quite a few posts on Fodor's over the last year or so about renting apartments and houses, and there are many posters here who have had quite a bit of experience with this kind of travel. You might try searching here using "apartment rental" or "renting villas" or something similar.

Alternatively, if you have any specific questions, just post them here and I'm sure you'll get a lot of help.

Good luck with this--it's a great way to travel in France.
