Thank you , bvlenci. Campo dei Fiori is perectly acceptable unless you want to make the abbreviation.

Any one paying any attention to Sandralist should look at her profle. Despises everything to do with Fodors and promises never to post here again - but is apparently addicted to being here. Sick.

It looks as though you're right about the hotel, though.

bvlienci,

I am also right Campo de'Fiori -- and not just the hotel.

No, StCirq, it is not perfectly acceptable.

Newark means "New Ark." If you spell and pronounced the name of the city that way, you will be wrong, and you will be corrected. If you saw a hotel in the city with a sign "The New Ark Hotel", you'd be a dope to think you'd won an argument on the internet.

But if what the two of you are trying to do is to get as many Fodorites as possible to continue to misspell the place name, easy I'm sure.

Judy Rosa,

If I post in your thread, this is just going to keep happening, so try to ignore it as best you can. It won't matter if you ask people to stop. However, i urge you or anybody going to Rome, to take care with the pronunciation of place names and anything else in Italian.

Ironically, I was born and raised in Newark.

bvlenci, you are so right about your comment regarding Trastevere.

I did a brief search on a few sites for apartments in that neighborhood, and many state the location as "Trastevere Area" and when I look at the apartment's location on google maps, it is really far away from the historical area.

I'm going to stick to the Navona/Campo de'Fiori/Pantheon area. I know it'll be full of tourists, but....I AM a tourist!

It will also be the first time I'm renting an apartment abroad, I'm a little nervous about doing it....so to rent in a purely residential area might not be a good idea, I'll stick with the well known areas that most first time visitors to Rome seem to prefer to stay in.

Thank you, I did take a look at that apartment as well. Seems really nice, I've put it on my list of possibilities.

Thanks again!
