Beautiful apartment, but $920 is a bit out of our range. I found something I'm considering in the Montorgueil area:

Looks much nicer with convenience to shops and grocers, it appears. Can anyone recommend this area....would it be centrally located enough? (Keeping in mind I started with the apartment in Madeleine place near everything.)

I have read good things about that agency on this board (or slowtravel I cannot recall).

Yep, it's a gorgeous apt--definitely a splurge (although it was under $800 a night when we booked it) but you only turn 50 once ;-) and it was definitely less expensive than 2 hotel rooms of that caliber and size would have been.

I prefer to stay closer to the river in the 4th, 5th or 6th so can't help with the location of that apt in the 2nd, but it looks pretty nice!

Givings,
Our family stayed in this apartment in May 08. It's a beautiful flat, with two full baths and a study which easily turns to a third bedroom. It's a good location for a first time visit and the owners are very easy to deal with. Maybe it will work for you.

Good luck, EJ

EJ, I looked this up and am VERY disappointed....it is booked during our stay. That location is perfect though and I will make a note of this for future reference. Thanks!

Did you see the other one they own? It is VERY nice - recently remodeled. I am not sure what week you need it for..

I just rented with www.rentparis.com, I loved their service. I stayed in a 1 BR on rue Rambuteau and loved it. The location is absolutely central and the street has lots of shopping and lively. Here is a place they have on rue Rambuteau that was probably right next to the one I stayed at (22 rue Rambuteau)...

hi givings,

we stayed in a parisbestlodge apartment on ile de la cite for a week this past september ...the location was great in terms of proximity to all the attractions. we found the apartment to be well-located and returned generally once or twice a day before heading back out...

there is a metro stop about 5 mins walk way - cite station. plus, st. michel and/or hotel de ville were so close that we often just bypassed cite and walked straight to those ones instead.

however, i never got a "neighbourhood-y" type of vibe - not a lot of cafes, shops, etc. that aren't completely touristy.

on the other hand, we hung out on ile st. louis in the evenings (a stone's throw away from our apartment) and that had a 'neighbourhood' vibe to it.

what's the actual address of the property you're thinking about? if it's closer to pont neuf, then you'll be close to the st. germain area on the left bank. and if you're closer to notre dame, then you'll be near to ile st. louis.

here's my trip report for your reference:

Sorry the dates don't work for you. Here are a few others that I've bookmarked. Paris Vacation Apts. has quite a few 2 & 3 bedroom properties that are well located. The Palais Royal apts. are very near the flat on rue des Petits Champs. If having two bathrooms is important for you, then make sure you see them on the floorplan. (Sometimes Paris apts. advertise 2 bathrooms, when in reality the WC is in a separate room from the shower/sink.) EJ

Lilaki, thanks so much for the link to your trip report. I am literally taking notes from it. I appreciate the comment about the Ile de la Cite area as well...we have not ruled it out but I'm still searching.

EJ....I really like a couple of the listings you suggested. In particular, there's a 2BR in St. Germain on Rue Dauphine that I've put a request in for from the Paris Vacation website: http://www.parisvacationapartments.c...-dauphine.html.

I love that area and everything about it looks perfect.....I hope I'm not missing something! Many thanks for your links.

I really need to make a decision today so I can nail down our itinerary!

The winner is.......

http://www.parisvacationapartments.c...invalides.html

Actually, it was the only one available for our week in March from this particular agency. My first choice was the flat on Rue Dauphine. Once I decided it was okay to stay in the 7th, I was (and am) perfectly happy with my choice.

Thanks again to everybody for your comments and suggestions. I never would have found this one on my own!

givings,

Looks like a beautiful apartment. It's relatively new to their site. We rented the Palais Royal 3-bedroom two years ago and the agency is a pleasure to deal with, and their apartments and amenities are terrific.

It's a good location and the 7th has a lot of restaurants and you're not too far away from the d'Orsay and Louvre.

We stayed on Ave. de Breteuil last year, on the other side of Invalides, and often walked to the 1st, and the 6th, as well.

Enjoy.
