apartment

I am traveling to Rioja region with kids. Looking for clean, modern, spacious apartment( as in 700 square feet or more in either Elciego or Laguardia preferably. It would be great to have a pool. We also need parking and would prefer a place that includes parking. There doesn't seem to be too many places on VRBO. We need something quiet and well airconditioning. Any suggestions please?

You are looking for the impossible.

Hi

I found this one in Elciego but don't know if it's 700 sq ft

You can preview the very long link to Booking.com - http://preview.tinyurl.com/m3popte

Look at the website for the apartments the max size is just 45Msq. Plus the swimming pool shown on Booking is the public one for the village.

I may be confusing others. I am looking for 70- 100 square meters. Sorry I was going by square feet which can get confusing. I am finding it much easier to find apartments in Madrid, Barcelona, and San Sebastian with above needs. Is that because they are cities? Gracias for everyones help!

I am ok with shared pools. Not looking for luxury just comfortable with a family. Air conditioning is important to me since we are used to it now. My kids are little.

Square feet isn't confusing - a square meter is just over 10.5 sq feet. The size is going to be the issue - 700 sf or 70 sm is a luxury apartment in Spain.

Well it doesn't seem to be in the cities.

It is very confusing but that's just because you specifically said sqaured feet which is not the same as meters, but if you want 100 M2, that is pretty big. I was surprised you thought 700 SF was so huge.

Yes, it is easier to find apartments in cities, especially big ones.

Your best bet would be if you were looking in Logrono, I think it's the largest city in Rioja and is the capital. It's still not huge compared to major cities like Barcelona. The places you want to stay are not even in Rioja province, that's one problem, so you aren't going to find them searching within Rioja. They are in Basque country, the province of Alava.

YOu also are not going to find modern apartments in rural areas, nor apartments with private pools. So your demands are a bit stringent and will be impossible, I'd agree.

YOu may find a rural cottage that size in that area. Won't have AC. Here is the only place in the area you want on HOmeaway, it is the size and location but not modern, etc. There is nothing in Eltziego.

Here is a place in Logrono that is an apt with AC and 70 m2

I think it's the only one on there with AC of any size.

There are many cool possibilities on airbnb.

debinthepeg Apr 21st, 2015 10:13 AM

I second checking on airbnb as well - great site and I've had a number of successful rentals. It's similar to VRBO but I like it better. I've also rented 4 apartments thru them for our upcoming trip to Spain and Italy.

Hint - Setup an account so you can track wish lists, etc rather than book marking ones you like.

Thanks everyone good points and I appreciate them!!!

<< I was surprised you thought 700 SF was so huge.>>

Probably using European expectation metrics. That's not huge in the US (unless you're in SF or NYC or Boston).

Please do not confuse Spain's larger cities with quaint small towns. They are usually worlds apart.

I don't Ribeirasacra. If we were traveling alone it would be alot easier with size requirements but we are family oriented and want to take our children. I think it will be good for my 7 and 5 year old as they take spanish now and love it. I believe its good to expose them to new ideas and customs.
