Anyone used Insure and Go travel insurance?
 

We will be traveling to Germany next spring on frequent flier miles so we don't need to insure air fare. Hotels can be cancelled so we don't need coverage for that. However, we would like to purchase trip insurance for medical and evacuation. After comparing several policies, the one that seems to offer the most coverage for the least price is Insure and Go, global gold. Has anyone used this company before? I have previously purchased from TravelGuard but their pricing is much higher for a similar policy. Thanks for any input.

I haven't used Insure and Go, but offer the following comment in case it proves useful:

I want to be taken to <u>the hospital of my choice</u> if medical evacuation is needed, and that is NOT necessarily covered by many policies, which may instead cover evacuation to the nearest hospital that meets whatever criteria the insurance company uses, which may or may not meet my requirements. Check squaremouth.com or insuremytrip.com to see what the options are and decide what you are willing to pay for the ones you want.

I use insuremytrip.com. The website is user friendly especially when comparing policies, and I have found the phone agents to be knowledgeable and patient with questions.

One variable among policies - one that you're not likely to find just comparing prices and coverage levels - is whether the medical coverage is PRIMARY or SECONDARY.

Secondary coverage requires you to submit bills to your own insurance company, and the policy will cover what they decline.

Primary coverage takes care of everything, minus whatever the deductible might be.

This is a significant variable, much more significant than a few dollars in premium cost or coverage level. This is why I prefer Travelex - they offer primary medical coverage.

The question was "has anyone used etc."

When you ask a question of a community or group - and I do see the Fodors mob as a community - then the " go Google it" reply is really pretty dumb.

But I suppose that every village has its idiot.
