Anyone stayed at Marriot Grosvenor House in London? Got a decent rate on PL but worried about additional costs...
I just got 5 nights at the Grosvenor House on Priceline for $155 a night. I had been looking at my regular spots in S. Kensington but was playing around on PL and my bid was accepted. Not sure if it's a good idea or not! I know it's a very lovely hotel and has just been redone, but I'm concerned about breakfast and internet costs.
Are there other restaurants close by where one can get breakfast easily and relatively cheaply? What about internet access?

You are within walking distance of Piccadilly so lots of places to have breakfast if it is not included in your room rate. I'm sure the hotel will have at least wired access if you are tal
king your laptop. I've not ever payed more than 10 pounds for 24 hours, most times less.
Can't comment on the hotel since it's been eons since we stayed there and at the time it was not a Marriot

We stayed there, but quite some time ago (it was a Marriott, though) and it's very nice, and close to plenty of shops and restaurants. No need to eat in the hotel (we never do). Don't know about internet.

I stayed there a long time ago and we could not afford to eat breakfast there -- we were staying on points. Lots of places to eat close to the hotel. Convenient location. You got a good price for a nice hotel.
I also stayed at the Renaissance (also on points) a few years ago and breakfast was out of our price range. We ate at Pret a Manger down the street, at least I think that's the name of the place -- a carry-away place that was popular with people on their way to work.

If you're talking about the Renaissance Chancery Court, yes, there's a Pret a Manger, and other similar chains (Eat?) nearby. They're all over the city, so there's probably some near the Grosvenor House also.

Thanks peoples.. it's evidently all been redone in the last year so the rooms should be nice, and despite the cheap PL gets they seem to be willing to give people decent rooms so that's all good. I'd just like to get a proper full English breakfast a couple of days while I'm there. Coffee and a pastry are fine most of the time. I do know a few pubs around Marble Arch area so that's a plus too.
It appears there is a free computer in the lobby and wired access in the rooms - I've emailed the hotel to see what the cost per day is. I can't believe hotels charge for internet these days, but many seem to. Once I hear back I'll update...
