anyone stay here in rome?

hello fellow travelers...
please help me stop obsessing over which hotel to stay in. i am travelling w/3 kids (11,12,15) and am looking for a cheap-reasonable (for rome) hotel, centrally located of course.

i have found some decent deals online and i'm wondering if anyone has stayed at:

residenza antica hotel $221 Q
anglo americano $224 Q
hotel parlamento
st. moritz $210 Q

i've tried e-mailing hotel navona and smeraldo but i'm not getting any responses which i take to be a "no vacancy" sign. as an aside, 2 or 3 days?

thanks in advance,
cheryl_b

National Geographic Traveler also recommended the Parlamento a year or two ago as a good hotel in a good location

Dear cheryl-b. Was in rome at both end of a trip in April. Stayed in Hotel Due Torre ( north of Piaxzza Navona )
in centro storico) single room w/ terrace 105 euros, obviously doubles were more but goodvalue. Ditto Hotel Lancelot 3 blocks from collesium toward San Giovanni in Laterno. paid 93. Lancelot has good restaurant for dinner very reasonably priced of you take 3 dinners during your stay. I'd recommend both.

Thank your lucky stars that the Smeraldo didn't reply. You missed the hotel from hell. You could touch both walls of the room standing in the middle, chaotic atmosphere, courtesy of the constant street noise, and staff that seriously needs anger management classes. Terrible, terrible place.
