Anyone know Brittany (not Britney)

We want to spend several days in Brittany. Is there any town good to use as a base so we don't have to move every day? Any recommended towns, sites? Thought the coastal villages should be good to see. Thanks for any help.

It's a big place. How about Concarneau?

Roscoff?

Quimper?

All on or near the coast, and not totally far west, but near enough so you can do the spectacular stuff at Finsterre

I like Pont Aven very much and highly recommend the Moulin de Rosemedec, right in town beside the water and quiet as it sits in a mews. You will be outside Belon famous for its oysters, i suggest another favorite there for tastinf, Chez Jicky and for crepes, also in Belon, Chez Angele. We also spent over night, again looking over water in Pornic, Paimpol. One of the wonderful things to taste is grilled lobster. Here in New Enland, they are usually steamed or boiled. Too much to list to see . From Carnac to Pointe de Raz and the islands. Next to Provence, Brittany remains our favorite. We loved riding the coastline, often staying the last minute at a scenic spot we found. In pornic, we watched the circus parade pass from our window.

Dinan is good, nice town and centrally located. St0Malo es great and Vannes so.

Stay near Cancale at Chateaux Richeaux, one of Oliver Roellinger's places. Great little bistro. You can watch the magnificent tides of the bay of Mont-st-Michel roll in and out from your window. Visit Cancale and sample the fresh oysters as they are brought in.

Lori, we are doing exactly as you suggest. Are booked at the Richeux for 3 days. Did you take days trips from there? I'd be interested in how much you were able to do in a day from there. Any info you can supply would be very appreciated.

We are staying in Dinan in Oct. for 4 days. I think that is near by. What day trips are interesting to do by car besides St. Malo & Cancale? Would you spend a full day in each of these towns or go to St. Malo in the morning & then Cancale in the afternoon for lunch? What other towns are nice for lunchs, market days & good sites/views?

Dick, I believe we corresponded about a Chambre D'Hotel in Dinan on rue de L'Abattoir. You said if I found the card to let you know. I found the card, it is:

Martine et Daniel Briand
4 rue de L'Abattoir
22100 Dinan
(02) 96 39 24 62

We're on our way to provence day after tomorrow. Happy traveling!

Chuck
