Anyone Know a Great Travel Agent for France?

I am planning a trip to France, and I have been recommended to use Virtuoso, but if it is like AMEX Platinum Travel Service, the quality of the agents varies greatly. Does anyone have a recommendation for a Virtuoso (or other luxury travel service) travel agent that can help me plan my trip?? I would prefer to have someone take care of all the details: Flights, hotels, guides, restaurants, etc.

Roland:

While I am not a professional travel agent, I'd be happy to assist you and answer any questions you may have about a trip to France. I have been traveling to France for 15 years now and consider myself well versed in how to plan and execute my yearly trips to France.

I have an excellent agent I have used who happens to be a certified France Specialist! You can reach her by emailing [email protected]. Have a great trip!

If you go to the web sites of Travel & Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler you will find lists of expert travel agents that specialize in specific parts of the world or type of travel. They usually have connections and/or do enough business with specific venues that they can help you get free upgrades etc.

BUT - this only works if you want to go for an upscale vacation. Otherwise they don't get enough commission from the hotels/tour guides/packages to pay the cost of their time - and will charge you quite large fees for their services.

I don't know if my ad is still up on SlowTravel, as it's not my primary profession, but I've been doing this for 10 years now. I've owned a home in France for 16 years, been a tour guide there, made more than 100 trips to all parts of the country, speak the language, and love to organize trips for people.

We just returned from one month in France. It was wonderful. Everything planned to suit us personally. The guides were the best we have ever had, and the accomodations were beautiful with very friendly and helpful help. I am hoping to use Ciao Bella Tours again next year for our month in Italy.
