Anyone know a ballpark cost for gasoline in Europe?

I'm going to be in Europe over Christmas and I'm renting a car. Can anyone give me an idea how much gas is going to cost? I haven't been to the Continent in about 10 years so I have no idea.

Thank you much.

The cost in the uk, for Unleaded petrol is on average 70 pence a litre. Costs across Europe vary by only a few pence either way.

The cost of gas in Europe is approx $4.00+/gal US. Add to this the average cost of using the Toll roads, which average approx $5.00/hr of driving time, and you quickly realize renting a car is very expensive. If you do decide to rent a car, rent a diesel engine car because the cost per gallon is about $1.00/gal less anywhere in Europe.Make a cost comparison using a Eurail or your paticular country pass. The only time you would want a rental car is if you decide to drive into the countryside of a particular Country.
