Anyone Just Back from Le Madison?
 

After reading what's been written here, I'm strongly considering cancelling these reservations for July but have no idea what would be a suitable, air-conditioned substitute.

Can anyone give me really current, accurate information on what's going on with Le Madison?

This thread (which I am guessing you may have already seen?) has the most recent info re the Madison, and is being updated with replies several times daily. One of the posters should be returning from Paris any day, and will be reporting her findings.

Yes, that's the thread that had me worried. Then again, there were some terrible reviews of the Sheraton Bal Harbour Resort in Miami on Tripadvisor, but I had to stay there for a conference. It was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Beautiful hotel, great rooms, absolutely wonderful staff....all these things were trashed by others on Tripadvisor. What's a traveller to do?

Here's a report posted on the bonjourparis.com web site from a friend living in Paris.

"And the Madison gets a clean bill of health. They said that while they DID have some renovations going on earlier in the year, they have been finished for over a month now. They redecorated the salon just off the lobby and replaced the fabric in the hallways upstairs. Everything is looking quite gorgeous, actually.

The staff said that they aren't sure HOW the rumor got started on the internet that work would be lasting through the summer, but that they are quite miffed about it. They've been asked about it several times, it seems.
The Hotel Madison is better than ever and no renovation is going on!"

Now all we need is a report from someone who has actually stayed at the Madison in the last few weeks.

In reference to the comment that the Madison does not know how an internet rumor started that the hotel renovations would not be done until the summer - I hope that my comments on the cancellation question about their email to me were not misread or misinterpreted. They told me that the work took longer than expected and that it would be done by the time we arrive in July - not to worry. That's the info I posted on the cancellation concern. In fact, Underhill, you speculated that if they said July then it might not be completed in the summer. Perhaps that is how the "rumor" started. Please re-read the comments made on the other question about cancelling the Madison. I just wanted to make a point that I was not the one who started this "rumor".

I think the rumor stemmed from some of the comments on the tripadvisor.com web site and speculation on this one. I'm certainly not accusing anyone here of starting the rumor, especially since it's turned up on sites other than this one.
