Susan,
We already have dinner reservations (DH is the ultimate anal-retentive do-aheader!)

How about a drink before? We probably won't have time on the day we arrive, so maybe the 21st or 22nd? Here's where we're eating:

9/21: Ristorante Taverna Del Bronzino
Via Delle Ruote, 25/R.
50100

9/22:Ristorante Cammillo
Borgo S. Jacopo, 57/R.
50100

If these are anywhere near where you're going to be let me know. Otherwise, maybe coffee or gelato during the day???

Susan, see you in Venice on the 19th at 8:00PM. BTW, I've eaten at L'Orso 80 twice on my last trip to Rome, and it's great. Mike

Linda, Somewhere on or near Borgo S. Jacopo on the 22nd would be good. I'm not sure where to meet around there for a drink, as it's my first time in Florence as well. Let me know what time you're having dinner and I'll see if I can find out where to have a drink.

Mike, OK for the 19th. And I've read so much about L'Orso that I'm sure it will be good!

Susan, the 1st would be good. I have del Pallaro on my list, so that would be perfect. How about 8:00 p.m.? I might have some friends with me too - not sure though.

Barb, Yes, the 1st is good. I'm taking a 2-1/2 hour Colosseum/Forum tour at 4:00 pm, and I've read that sometimes they run a little longer. I should be able to get there by 8:00, but just in case I'm a bit late, I'll still be coming.
Obviously, it's fine if you bring more people!

Susan, if you have a phone, I can give you my cell #. I've met Fodorites on two previous trips, so this will be fun. How will be know each other?

Barb, I won't have a cell phone, but I could probably call you if you like. I'm not too worried about finding people. There can't be too many Barb's and Susan's looking for each other outside the restaurant!

Hi Jen, The meeting with Barb is in Rome, but I'd be glad to meet you and your friend for dinner on the 22nd in Florence. I was planning on Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco, 43 Borgo San Jacapo, if that's OK with you, probably 8:00. If we can figure out a place in that area to do it, we can meet Linda and her husband for a drink first.

Susan, it's on my calendar now. Why don't you top this thread just before you leave to remind us all. BTW, what a great trip you have planned!! All wonderful places.

Hi Susan, that sounds great. I had a memorable dinner at OCB on my first trip to Italy in 99 so it would be nice to go there again. We can keep updated on this thread if anything changes and/or I can give you my email.

For any other potential GTG's our itinerary is as follows:
9/10-9/14 Rome-5 nights
9/15-9/18 Positano-4 nights
9/19-9/20 Capri-2 nights
9/21-9/23 Florence-3 nights
9/24 last night in Rome

Susan, see you at 8:00 on the 22nd in the Oltrarno and hopefully we will see Linda as well. Jen

Jen, I look forward to seeing you on the 22nd. As I mentioned to Barb, I will be sure to top this thread a few days before I leave. It doesn't look as though we have any other stops in common, but maybe someone else will.

Susan & Jen,
Sounds great! I'll try to map out your location as it relates to our respective dinners and see if we can find a meeting spot.

JenV: thanks for posting your itinerary.
I will be solo in Rome on the 12th and 13th and would like to get together with fellow travelers for dinner one of those two nights. Let me know if you are free and if you have any restaurant suggestions.

Azure, we would love to meet up either evening though we have a side trip planned for the 13th so it would need to be a late dinner. The restaurants I would like to try in Roma are Enoteca Antica, Obika Mozzarella Bar, Orso 80, der Pallaro, Ditrambo, Da Baffetto and maybe Crudo in no specific order. We are open to anything though. Let me know what would work for you. JenV

Hi Jen - Thanks for responding! Let's plan for the 12th. I will be staying at a hotel near the Pantheon. Will you be close to there ? I have read good reviews on this forum of some of the restaurants you mentioned -I don't have a preference, just looking forward to an authentic Roman meal. Why don't you email me at the following address so that we can plan: [email protected]
Looking forward to meeting you and your friend!
Ruba

I am sooooooo bummed! I just got my schedule for work and the "computer" gave me Rome arrivals on the 19th and the 26th(only two trips)-the rest of the month I am going to Amsterdam? So unless someone is around those days, I will ask kindly to have a glass of wine for me and a raincheck.Sorry to miss meeting all of you!

dutyfree, Does that mean you will only be there for the night of the 26th? So sorry to hear that! If only it were two nights later, you could join Mike and me on the 28th. We will have a glass of wine for you!
