Anyone hiked the Isle of Wight? Wales?
 

I got an interesting brochure about some hiking options on the coast here. Seems they have lots of trails and luggage transfer services. I also got some interesting info on Wales. After 2 years of hiking Switzerland, I'm a bit spoiled, but think some castles and thatched roofs might be a nice change. Am I correct in assuming that early June wouldn't attract hordes of people?

Several of my work colleagues frequently walk on the Isle of Wight, and love it.
Some might consider it a little "Twee", but there are certainly plenty of rolling hills, chocolate box cottages and decent pubs.

For Wales have a look at the Pathfinder walking guides. There are several covering various parts of Wales (I don't think they do one for the Isle of Wight though). They have graded walks from gentle strolls, for a couple of hours to more challenging mountain walks in Snowdonia.

The scenery is very varied in Wales, from wide sandy beaches, coastal cliff paths, rural scenery, rugged mountains and castles. As we can reach north Wales in a couple of hours from where we live, we have done plenty of walking there over the years and I never tire of it.

- as for June, it should not be too crowded. The first week could be a little busier as the week including the late May Bank holiday (last Monday in May) is a school holiday week.
