Anyone here ever bought a property in Italy?
Just toying with the idea of buying a property in Italy, partly because I want to invest some money but mostly because I REALLY WANT TO.
So, I'm just interested to know if anyone here has done this, and how you got on with the local laws, taxes, unscrupulous agents, bank accounts etc. Any great advice? I'm looking at Umbria at the moment... Vague question I know, but I'd just love to hear your experiences. |

In two years the Euro has gone from 0.88 to 1.23 to the dollar, and you want to buy property NOW? More power to you!

And you're guaranteeing that the Euro is NOT going to go beyond $1.23 in the future? Besides, I don't think you or I could care less about how the original poster want to spend her money. For personal reasons, I'd like to know how it is done, too. |
Kate-
If you have subsciption to Wall Street Journal, they just had an article on Friday March 19, 2004 interviewing several couples who have moved to Europe (Italy included). It can be a good start for you. |
Thanks for the link Ira, I'll check it out.
Bob, I'm in the UK, so the dollar/Euro exchange rate doesn't affect me. And if I can afford a flat in London, I'm looking at Palazzos in Italy! (I wish) |
Ira is right--go to slowtrav.com where they have a section on this topic.
