My friends stayed at Tritone and liked it. Fairly large rooms, nice bathroom, new (as of 2 years ago) and location right around the corner from Trevi, very convenient to all sights as well as bus lines - but they walked everywhere except for Vatican

Lisa,
there is a book called Gambero Rosso, Rome.
It is published in italy, and lists hotels, etc.
I know the travel agant who arranged our Rome apt. uses this book and their Tuttitalia 2001 freq. as reference.
Gambero rosso rates hotels with KEYS, for comfort, etc.
Tritone gets 2 keys, out of 3(very comfortable)
They say" There is a miniscule reception
area at the top of a small flight of stairs.Daily newpapers and magazines available.
Rooms are prettyand offer all necessary comforts, bathrms on small size but comfortable
There is a pleasant glassed-in breakfast room with a view
across ancientroman rooftops and a summer roof garden."
Have fun
