Anyone find a really nice hotel near CDG ??

Has anyone found a really nice hotel within an hour or so of CDG ( not in Paris please)?

Hi L,

Why not in Paris?

Have you entered <Roissy Hotel> in the "search this forum" box?

Yes indeed, hotel-alixia.com is the best value I've found anywhere in France. It's a two-minute walk from the RER B line to CDG Terminal 2 (one hour enroute).

We stayed in a suite for 139€ that was easily the equivalent of any 4* in Paris.

1. Because I will have already spent a considerable amount of time in Paris...and I am not a fan of Paris in July.....just as am not a fan of New YOrk in July and I grew up there....though I love both places when it's not hot!!!

2. Yes ....but most of the threads are rather old and the newer ones seem to concentrate on questions relating to inexpensive lodging.

There's a Hyatt near the airport. But if you're willing to stay within in an hour of the airport, then you can stay in Paris.

There are a couple of 4* hotels at Porte Maillot and the Palais de Congres: a Meridien and the Concorde Lafayette. These hotels are beside the shuttle bus that takes you to the airport in about 35 minutes, but are also well-connected so that you can sightsee in the city.

Nont really sure what you are looking for, but I have stayed at the Marriott Courtyard near CDG. It's a nice hotel, not outrageously priced, but not really near anything. Great for an early morning flight however.

I've stayed several times at the Hostellerie de la Porte-Bellon in Senlis and have quite enjoyed it. Senlis is a very attractive town and it's not much more than 20 minutes by the Autoroute from CDG.

If you are willing to stay at the airport, the Sheraton inside one of the terminals is great. We loved our night there.

Re:Hostellerie de la Porte-Bellon in Senlis
As I posted in March "On our last three trips to France I have tried to book at this hotel close to CDG. It is supposed to be a great place and not the typical "airport hotel". However, they never answer their email and each time I have tried to book through Logis, the reponse comes back that they have nothing available during the dates requested."
We end up staying at Chateau d'Ermenonville in Ermenonville - so-so accomodation (tired) but wonderful food for your last supper. A good bargain for €100 and close to CDG.

The Chateau de Chaumontel in Luzarches should work. Google it to find the website. It's a former hunting lodge of some nobility; even has a moat!

Within an hour, by what? Fly, TGV/Thalys, RER or drive?

I mean, you can get to CDG by Thalys in 75 minutes from Brussels. "An hour" can cover hundreds of square miles.

Hello Lyn:

http://www.chateau-ermenonville.com/

I have stayed here, Chateau Ermenonville 3 times. It has a wonderful restaurant, beautiful grounds, pretty village and in an excellent spot to visit the really interesting area north of Paris.

As robjame mentioned, the accomodation is "interesting" :) Its not awful, just faded, ecletic furnishings, ancient TVs etc., but I loved the fabric-covered walls.

Its very similar to many other chateaux I have stayed in throughout France - big emphaisis on food but rooms are simply furnished and contain a mish-mash of antiques, brocante trash from the 50s & 60s and even a bit of MDF.

However, I would definately stay there again as I loved the food and the location. BTW, taxi fare is probably about +70 Euros (was 60 two years ago), so I hope you have a car.

Also, check out Senlis and surrounding area - about an hour to CDG. I use this site to find interesting hotels:

If you want to stay IN the airport, I really like the Hyatt - gorgeous rooms. If you are traveling in summer, it may be possible to get a good rate.

I always stay at the Ibis hotel at the airport if I need to be there due to an early morning flight. It is the cheapest of the airport options. It is nothing special but it is convenient.

Do not buy the breakfast as it is too much money for a lousy breakfast. You can always buy something at the airport.

LynFrance Apr 16th, 2007 04:12 PM

Many thanks everyone for your help.

Grandmere, the Chateau de Chaumontel is closed for renovation according to their website.

O'Reilly, the Chateau Ermenonville is filled the night before we leave. They must be having a wedding or convention as that is the only Fri/Sat all summer that they are full.

Either of those would have been great.

Has anyone stayed in the Hotel du Lac in Enghien-Les-Bains?

Again, my thanks.

LynF
