Anyone familiar with this Florence apartment?

The owner/manager has been responding, but slowly. It takes a few days between emails for a response. We have not yet put the deposit down yet and not because I haven't wanted to! I suppose once we're booked, it's fine unless anyone here knows otherwise. The reviews are good, but older. Going to cross-post on slowtrav as well just in case. Thanks!

To answer my own question, I googled the owner's name and found info on her and all seems good.

ncounty, it really does! And it's a good price - I can't wait to stay there! Plenty of room for three couples and two toddlers. LOL

Looks great! Just a thought. The apartment is on the first floor. I can't find mention of a lift on their website info. Is mobility an issue for any of your party?

i think that you can take comfort from the calendar which shows a reasonable level of bookings.

stellamaria, in case you have not been in Italy before, the first floor is equivalent to the US second floor, so you will have tom climb a flight of stairs to get to it. And the flights in Italy are quite high, as the rooms generally have very high ceilings.

I would like to see a few more photos, like a couple of the kitchen. Sometimes if you write and ask them theynwill send you more. The fact that the owner is slow in responding is not necessarily a sign of a problem. They may be busy with work, etc,

No mobility issues, we all are using the stairs as an excuse to eat more pasta, gelato, etc. Bonuses for the adults carrying the toddlers up the stairs. ;) Charnees, good call on asking for more pics of the kitchen. Although that is less of a concern since we'll probably just stock the fridge for the kids and use it more for breakfast/snacks.

annhig, I have the actual address from the preliminary contract and it's near the Bargello over near the restaurant Acqua al Due if you're familiar. Via Ghibellina 125 for anyone who is interested specifically. Not where I've stayed before but certainly within the area we preferred! Thanks all for the input. :)

i stayed a bit further north of there, but it's a very nice, interesting area, certainly. Do try to make your way to the market [can't remember the name, but if you click on my screen name and find my TR on my visit to tuscany last year, you'll find the bit on Florence at the bottom] north of santa Croce - the cafe in the middle of the market serves very typical Florentine food, very tasty and cheap! you have to share tables, and you pay just for the wine you drink, though they bring you a bottle. it gets very busy after about 12.30 so get there early is my advice. otherwise, it's still worth a visit as it gets few tourists, just locals, though they were very helpful in vacuum packing my purchases including some fantastic pear and ricotta tortellini that i bought from one stall. as you'll have a kitchen you could always buy some to try " a casa".

Grazie annhig! For my sister and me, this will be a great visit - We both spent a year of college in Florence. I know the market you are speaking of and it is truly fantastic. It will be fun to introduce our husbands to our favorite spots. I am going to go read your trip report to refresh some ideas. :) I truly appreciate your great advice and help!

stella - after a year in Florence you must be experts, and I'm sure that there's nothing that I could mention that you don't already know about!

annhig, you never know! Last time I was there was 2007 and new fun things are always popping up! :)
